S. Chockalingam, DG YASHADA appeal to provide a Wi-Fi facility for students traveling in Pune Metro Line 3 trains
PUNE: “The Metro project is a significant contributor not only to the development of the city but also to the country as a whole. As Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar Metro Line 3 also connects to the SPPU University, it is even more important and significant from an education point of view,” opined S. Chockalingam, Director General of YASHADA. He also made a special public appeal to PITCMRL for providing an onboard wi-fi facility to students traveling on Pune Metro Line 3 trains.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, a special ‘Eco Sanvaad’ program was organized by Pune Metro Line 3 on Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar route today (Sunday) at Tathwade Casting Yard. Along with S. Chockalingam, Mr. Alok Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer, Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited, a special purpose company established for Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar Metro, and Dr.Suhas Diwase, Metropolitan Commissioner, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) was also present this environment dialogue event.
At this event, to celebrate the occasion of World Environment Day, along with Mr. Chokalingam, Dr. Diwasw, Mr. Kapoor, Neha Pandit, Director, Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited, and Director Projects Akshay Sharma planted the native trees such as Umber, Wad, Pimple, Kanchan, Kadamba, Tikoma, Cassia, Karanj, and Savar.
This was followed by ‘Eco Sanvaad’ – a dialogue with distinguished guests. In which Shri. S. Chokalingam spoke about the various initiatives being taken by Yashada for environmental awareness as well as what can be done to attract more students to Metro transport.
Dr. Suhas Diwase was apprised about the important projects like Metro and Ring Road and the efforts being made by PMRDA to make a proper connection between the historical heritage and industrial development of Pune. Mr. Alok Kapoor explained the importance of Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar Metro Line 3 to the people of Pune and also informed them about the green initiatives being implemented on this metro line.
‘IAS Dr.Diwase’ and the bullock cart journey
“As an IAS officer, Dr.Diwase you, now must be traveling in various luxury cars, but have you ever traveled by a bullock cart?” Answering this audience question, PMRDA Commissioner Dr. Suhas Diwase said, “Even though I am an IAS by degree and post; in my heart, there is a hardcore farmer from Wangi village. I have traveled a lot in bullock carts. Even now, my every morning discussion at the family breakfast table includes topics such as farming, fertilizers, cattle, and so on.”
