Jaipur-based team, Rajasthan Royals, has been successful to qualify for the IPL playoffs 2022. Standing at the second position in the IPL points table with 18 points for 9 wins in a total of 14 games Rajasthan Royal is to face Gujarat Titans in the first qualifier match of the playoffs in Kolkata on May 24.
Previously Rajasthan defeated Chennai Super Kings and won the first edition of the IPL cup in 2008 under Shane Warne’s leadership. According to Betway Ambassador Kevin Pietersen, the Royals can play all for the trophy to tribute to their first-ever skipper to win the IPL title. Warne passed away a few days back.
“I’m really hoping Rajasthan can go all the way in the memory of Shane Warne. It feels like there should be special energy in that franchise at the moment,” Pietersen said in a statement on his Betway column.
Assuming we scrutinize the group’s condition, they turned out to be at the bottom part of the table so fans are more than eager to see them win this year. This year the squad is driven by Sanju Samson, the 27-year-old right-handed wicket-keeper batsman from Kerala.
Jos Buttler who arrived from England is one of the most discussed players in this year’s league. His back-to-back big knocks contributed to the franchise’s prosperity. Having 629 runs beside his name, this right-handed batsman owns the primary place in the list of Orange Cap holders in this year’s IPL.
Another big bang with his bat could ensure the team’s victory in the qualifiers against the Titans. Kumar Sangakkara’s squad not only outshines in batting but also excels in bowling too with R. Ashwin, Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal, and M. Prasidh Krishna. In 14 innings Ashwin has an economy rate of 7.14 and 11 wickets in his bag.
Again Chahal picking up 26 wickets enables RR to possess both Orange and Purple Cap as of now. Having a well-balanced team like RR, it would not be a surprise if the team can make its way into the finals of IPL 2022. Since everything relies on the playoff matches now let’s do a little prediction and evaluate RR’s likelihood to make it to the finals.
In Eden Gardens the toss winners are most likely to bat first, however, the spinners also have an increased rate of success on Eden’s pitch. With Wriddhiman Saha being slightly injured can put the Titans under pressure. It is no wonder that both the teams are well put together and currently in their best shape. Being spin-friendly Ashwin, Chahal, and Rashid Khan will have the opportunity to pick up wickets.
In terms of setting big numbers on the board, both squads are handy with their big hitters. From RR, we have Sanju, Buttler, and Devdutt Padikkal whereas GT holds David Miller, the skipper Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, and W. Saha. If the opening batters like Buttler and Shimron Hetmyer can take advantage of the power play, winning on Kolkata’s pitch would not be too difficult for Rajasthan Royals.
By winning a qualifier one can help RR certainty and perhaps it will serve the group towards their journey to holding the prize for the second time in the history of the Indian Premier League.
