Biz QuoTiEnt – a business plan competition for college students

• Pune winners will receive a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000
• Global winners will win a prize of $100,000

PUNE: Taking its mission to foster entrepreneurship further, TiE has started an initiative, Biz QuoTiEnt – a business plan competition for college students.

Says Vineet Patni, President, TiE Pune,

“We believe it’s important to catch them young. Students are the best assets of a country, and why not help create wealth, jobs by using their potential and creativity to build new businesses?”

Anyone who is studying in any college in and around Pune in any stream is eligible to enter. Says Advait Kurlekar who heads this initiative,

“We have extended it to even ex-students of the colleges, but only up to those who have passed out from 2019 onwards. The last date to register yourself on our website is Jan 15, 2022.

There are around 10 universities and colleges that have tied up with TiE Pune and these universities and colleges will hold an Intra College competition for the students who have registered. Says Advait, “After the Intra College competition, we will have an Inter-College competition at the TiE Pune Chapter level. The winner of this Inter College level competition will be TiE Pune’s entry to the global competition. The winner will be sent to Silicon Valley, where they will compete with winners from other TiE Chapters globally”. 

The Pune winners will receive a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000 here and the global winners will win a prize of $100,000. Apart from this, all students who reach Silicon Valley will participate in Boot Camps, get mentoring from global gurus and expand their networks.

Additionally, TiE Pune will offer a discounted Associate Membership to all the first three winners of different colleges, and all contestants can avail of the entrepreneurship expertise that TiE holds. “Our aim is to identify and nurture these student start-ups and watch them grow into unicorns,” says Advait.
