Easebuzz launches a Cyber Fraud Security campaign to combat wrongdoings on digital platforms

PUNE: Undergoing transformative growth since its founding, Easebuzz operates as a payment services provider for midsize organizations. The leading payment solution provider in India recently conducted a social awareness program focusing on driving cybersecurity behavior change. With the campaign held in Wai- Maharashtra, Easebuzz promotes up-to-date cybersecurity recommendations to build trust in online services and supports citizens in protecting their personal, financial, and professional data online. The program was attended by Sarpanch Udhay Singh Thakur and Ajay Kumar- Director of Easebuzz, Risk, and Compliance.

Headquartered in Pune, Easebuzz has taken initiatives to educate people about unknown cyberthreats and has been dedicated to taking measures for awareness of preventing cyberattacks, identifying online fraud, and adopting good cybersecurity habits. The theme for this campaign is “#SayNaah.” This theme encourages individuals to not share their OTP, passwords, CVV, etc.

A spokesperson from Easebuzz, Anshul, and Prasad educated the people of Wai to own their role in cybersecurity, stressing personal accountability and the importance of taking proactive steps to enhance security in our increasingly connected world. With this approach, we were able to communicate with the people in Wia and helped them fill the gap on understanding cyber threats.

To make the session more interactive and engaging, videos related to cybersecurity awareness were played and villagers actively participated in the session. Discussion related to email scams, phone scams, SMS scams, marketplace scams were discussed. These scams use compelling text messages to trick targeted recipients into clicking the link and sending the attacker private information. Speaking about scams, the Risk and Compliance Director, Ajay Kumar stated,” Citizens should be vigilant when they receive suspicious or fraudulent emails or SMSs. Be careful while clicking links as fraudsters may try to capture your personal and sensitive information like bank account details, OTPs, Card details, etc.”

While interacting with us, a local said, “One day I got a call and the person on the phone said that they are from my bank. They asked for an OTP I had received and were saying it was for official bank purposes. I told them the OTP and the next day around Rs. 35,000 were debited from my account.” This awareness helped rural people to understand that fraud scams will convenience the victims that they are doing the right thing by responding to the caller.

Through the premise of this campaign, Easebuzz provided the right information to the attendees and educated them on various methods that could scam them on digital platforms. The spokesperson from Easebuzz also guided people on how to safeguard themselves from such threats and make sure they are cyber safe. As the conversation progressed, a few instances of previous experiences regarding frauds were brought up, and Easebuzz provided practical step-by-step steps and precautions to follow out during such situations.
