Crowned as Mrs India Empress of the Nation – Winner PLUS category and Mrs Queen of Galaxy 2021 International Beauty Pageant
PUNE: “It’s all thanks to my groomers, Karl and Anjana Mascarenhas, the dynamic duo of DIVA Pageants, who gave me opportunities to shine. They groomed me to perfection, polishing my skills of answering spontaneously. To my surprise, the final question asked to me at the Mrs Queen of Galaxy 2021 international pageant was a simple one. What is Success to you?” The title was mine after my winning statement, “Success – I like looking into the mirror and that woman smiling back at you in Awe, Pride, and Contentment in whatever she has achieved from being an Author to being crowned Mrs India, and all that she still can achieve, to me that is Success.”, beams Deepti, who was born and brought up in Nashik. An engineer by profession but a writer at heart, she heads the Business for South India and Sri Lanka at a leading MNC. She has recently authored a fiction book – Her Master’s Grief.
But it wasn’t an easy journey for Deepti. “Being a sportsman, I was a fitness freak. But due to a sports-related back injury, I was put on steroids for pain relief. This led to sharp weight gain from 60 Kgs to 147 Kgs over a span of 5 years. It took a toll on my health. Also, I saw that the people who cheered me during my win now laughed at me behind my back. I learned a very important lesson – in life, we must never be complacent. Nobody will come to rescue you, it is you, who have to pick yourself up and either drag to the finish line or run and finish in style. I chose the latter”, says Deepti. She gives due credit to her family – her parents, elder sister Lt. Col Chandni Chacko who is her backbone. Also, her husband, Lalit’s unstinting support through thick and thin. And with the help of a strict and sustainable lifestyle change, she has lost weight and stands tall at 87 Kgs.
Back to her twin wins – soon after winning the Mrs India Empress of the Nation – Winner PLUS Category, on 10th December, Deepti prepared to gear up for the international pageant. The contest was held virtually due to COVID restrictions and was aired live on Facebook. This pageant had 18 countries participating and she was representing India. The 3 rounds of National Costume, Gown, and Swimwear were all pre-shot and videos of the three looks were sent for evaluation.
Summing up her journey, Deepti says, “I battled a very important cause in life. Body Positivism is the only answer to this struggle. Through my experience, I want to inspire millions of people that it is possible to break free from difficult times in life and get back on track. It is ok to lose everything and possible to win it all back. All that is needed is strong willpower and systematic positive outlook in life”.
