Over 1000 women entrepreneurs from 26 countries are vying for the coveted TiE Women’s Global Pitch Competition this year. In Pune, 58 companies started by women joined the race and TiE Pune selected its winner – Dr. Anuya Nisal of Serigen Medi products P Ltd.
What’s in store for the winner? $100,000 equity-free prize money. Apart from that, mentoring by global leaders and networking with the world. Last year, Pune’s Ahammune Biosciences won the first runner-up award ($25,000/- with mentoring and networking), and this year, TiE Pune looks forward to winning big.
Simply because Dr. Nisal’s innovation is big. Says Zelam Chaubal, who heads the TiE Pune Women’s Initiative, “Accidents and diseases like cancer or infection can cause problems in the bone. Currently, doctors often use global products, but Dr. Nisal has developed Serioss, which is far superior to the current ones. Serioss shows promise as it helps build better bone when used. Also, it does not get secondary fractures post-surgery”.
Better bone, better world. TiE Pune also selected three runners-up, who have worked on different products that will benefit society. They are:
- Repos Energy – Aditi Bhosale Walunj aims to redesign the energy delivery system in the country. They provide large consumers of diesel with doorstep delivery.
- Anatomech – Divyakshi Kaushik’s startup is developing wearable technology that eases the lifetime management of medical conditions that involve sizable swelling and associated pain, like lymphedema post breast cancer surgery.
- ASETS-LUX – Ashwini Oke’s company provides simulation and designs according to international standards, on a single central data-centric hub – cloud-based platform – IDS (TM) – where an entire plant (petrochemical, oil & gas, fertilizer, pharma, renewable energy, etc.) can be designed, analyzed, be it Pre-FEED, FEED and/or detail engineering, piping, process, etc. This saves time, effort, and money and helps asset owners with holistic visualization, and engineering contractors maintain profit margins throughout the project lifecycle.
The judges for selecting the Pune winner were Sushma Rajagopalan – Venture Partner with Rittenhouse Ventures, Dr. J. Fathima Benazir, Cofounder & CEO – Azooka Life Sciences, and Sanjay Mehta – Founder & Partner, 100X VC. On 23 October 2021, the Pune winner and the runners-up will compete in Dubai for the Global Winner title.
