    Mercedes-Benz India clocks strong growth in H1 2021

    India’s largest luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz India today announced it has retailed 4857 units in the January-June 2021 period buoyed by new product introductions, recording a robust 65% growth over the same period last year. The June 2021 retail, in particular, signifies the first signs of a strong recovery in customer sentiments influenced by factors like new product portfolio and gradual unlocking of markets leading to an uptick in economic activities.

    Key Pointers –

    • Strong momentum gained in H1 2021 sales: 4,857 new cars delivered in H1 2021, a robust growth of 65% (2,948 units: H1 2020) 
    • A very strong sales performance in June 2021
    •  Eight new launches have boosted customer sentiment
    • Strong demand for top-end cars like GLS Maybach 600, New S-Class along with AMGs
    • The LWB E-Class remained the single highest selling model for Mercedes-Benz followed by the GLE luxury SUV 
    • A-Class Limousine and the all-new GLA contributed to H1 2021 sales volumes
    • Strong order intake for EQC indicates a sustained customer interest for India’s first luxury EV
    • Online sales prominence: Online sales continue its prominence with 20% penetration in H1 2021 sales
      • For April-May lockdown period online sales penetration was at 35%
      • More than 25,000+ leads generated by online sales alone, in H1 2021 
    • Total number of connected cars sold by Mercedes-Benz till H1 2021 remains at 10,600 units.
    • Production ramp-up from July: Mercedes-Benz India gradually ramps up operations and sales following all the directives from local authorities.
