Former South African star batsman AB De Villiers is one of the most destructive batsmen around the world and he’s known for his clean hitting all over the park. He can win you the match from any situation irrespective of which opposition he’s playing against or what bowling lineup is there. He can score at a 200-strike rate or even can hit a bowler for 20-25 runs easily to win the games.
AB De Villiers currently plays Indian Premier League for Royal Challengers Bangalore and before heading into IPL 2021 edition, he’s smashed 235 sixes in played 169 matches at the strike rate of 151.91 with 40 plus average in 156 innings. He has made 4849 runs in these games and it includes 390 fours. ABD doesn’t have a muscular body shape as Chris Gayle or Pollard have but he’s tremendous power-hitting capabilities.
David Miller, the former team of Ab De Villiers in the South African team has said the same thing about him in an interview with Betway. Millers says that ABD isn’t too strong like Gayle but he’s got an excellent mindset and risk calculation to hit the ball out of the stadium. Miller also said in the interview that heavy bat weight doesn’t give surety that player would hit the ball easily and score runs at a good pace.
“You can always get the power through the gym and getting strong, but you look at Nicholas Pooran now, even AB de Villiers, they’re not as big and strong. I’m not necessarily big on the weight of a bat but it makes a massive difference in the mental side of things,” Miller told the Betway Insider.
AB De Villiers holds the records for the fastest fifty (16 balls), hundred (31 balls), and 150 (64 balls) of all time in One Day Internationals by any batsman. He also holds the fastest hundred by a South African in Tests and the fastest 50 by South African in T20Is.
The right-hand batsman is known as a 360 degrees player for his flexibility in the crease to whack the ball at any part of the stadium. He can hit the same ball to mid-off, mid-on, over extra cover, deep-midwicket, or at the front or back of the wicket. AB De Villiers has scored 3 hundred and 38 fifties in the Indian Premier League till now and will be a key player once again for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming IPL 2021 starting from 9 April.
