The Africa Economic Forum – formerly African Economic Forum – is the largest Africa-focused event at Columbia University and a student-led collaboration between Columbia Business School, the Law School, and the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). It has been designed to provide a platform for meaningful engagement and thought-provoking discussions among students, faculty, professionals, and members of the Columbia community.
Exploring the theme – Africa on the Move: Charting a Path Forward in the Wake of a Global Crisis, this year forum is designed to evaluate the progress being made on the continent amid the COVID-19 pandemic, in areas including trade, healthcare, technology, and innovation, social movements, and capital investment. While showcasing this growth and development over the past year, the forum will discuss solutions to the pressing issues that will likely challenge Africa’s post-pandemic economic recovery.

Commenting on the partnership with African Media Agency, Oheneba Ama Nti Osei, Africa Economic Forum 2021 co-chair noted that “Columbia AEF is pleased to be partnering with AMA to spread the word about this important event. AMA has over the years been a partner of choice for Africa-based companies, and we are confident this partnership will help us reach a wide audience across the continent and beyond”.

According to Eloïne Barry, CEO of AMA, this partnership “underlines the relentless efforts of the firm to improve the continent through supporting events that bring together top business executives, thought leaders, and politicians to discuss key topics affecting the continent, while providing a rich learning and networking experience”.

Through candid and holistic conversations, this year’s forum will provide a lively virtual space to discuss the ways in which creative and innovative ideas can be leveraged to positively shape Africa’s future and cement its place as a major player in the global economy.
