A dream wedding in a true sense, it reflected who they are as a couple of #RandomButBeautiful
PUNE: A wedding is what dreams are made of. No wish too extravagant or random to fulfill, Pratish Shah – owner and founder of House of Hind tied the knot with Dhvani Kothari, a notable jewelry designer earlier this month. Their wedding ceremonies spanned over a week and included beautifully curated pre-wedding rituals, sangeet, and reception held across Pune and Mahabaleshwar.
The couple met through their families and struck chords because of their common entrepreneurial spirit and love for design, art, travel, and nature. Pratish’s venture, House of Hind, is a brand that aims to redefine Indian women of every generation, in India and beyond, with outfits that range from traditional to modern and everything in between. Dhvani has brought to life Avante Jewellery, a brand that celebrates the power of art and its many genres in the form of the most unique costume jewelry. Together, they are a power-couple who got along almost instantly after they met.
The big fat Indian wedding of Pratish and Dhvani had Kinjal Vora from The Writer’s Block and Naini Shah from Naeyeni Design Studio came up with a beautiful concept and hashtag for the wedding- #RandomButBeautiful after a comprehensive interview with the couple. It implied that the most special connections are made in the most random but beautiful ways, and just like nature is random but beautiful, so was the love of Pratish and Dhvani.
The logo, inspired by a coat of arms design, represented all the random but beautiful connections they had, which would contribute to building their own legacy. From the couple’s love for Spix macaws and wildflowers to the purple and yellow color scheme — it all circled back to Pratish and Dhvani, and their one-of-a-kind bond.
The outfits of the couple stole the show. Hand-picked and curated as per the couples’ taste, the duo’s wedding repertoire showcased some of the most beloved designers and brands in the industry. From Gaurav Gupta to Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Kunal Rawal to SVA by Sonam & Paras Modi, Amit Agarwal to Anushree Reddy, Troy Costa to Roopkala and Avadore – an eclectic bouquet of outfits was custom made and delivered within 45 days of the preparation time.

All the planning culminated in a week-long jamboree of #RandomButBeautiful events, that took place between 16 -25 January 2021. Before all roads led to Mahabaleshwar, the festivities kicked off in Pune. It all started with the ring ceremony which took place on 16th January 2021, in the ballroom of the JW Marriott Pune, where both family’s guests were put up for one night. The decor and theme exuded a bohemian and earthy vibe. Followed by the heartfelt ceremony, there was an afterparty held at the hotel’s nightclub, Miami, where DJ Nawed and Abhishek Ahir spun the decks.
The next day featured the Randal Mata Puja and Mehendi function of the bride’s side. Guests gathered at the Landmark Garden Club House in Pune, which was transformed into a marigold wonderland. With Bindu Chetan entertaining everyone with Gujarati songs that gave all the shaadi vibes, it was an afternoon to remember.
The groom’s side’s Mehendi took place on the 23rd, with a sundowner party, hosted at Little Italy in Pune. While the dholwala and local Pune DJ Piyush Mehta worked the beats, the most noteworthy moment was when the groom made his epic entry on a Segway.
On 24th, everyone made their way to Brightland Resort & Spa in Mahabaleshwar. The Main Lawns were decked in a shimmering ambiance, and the stage was set for the fabulous Sanam Puri Band, which left the crowd captivated through the entire performance. The After Party took place at the resort’s Electrique Mist Lounge, where DJ Jamin, a local DJ from Pune had everyone dancing all night long.
The next morning started early, at 9:30 am with the Baraat. The groom’s side adorned in colorful safas were ready to parade the groom, who sat in a beautiful vintage car, to his mandap. The parade quickly turned into one big party as Gurdeep Mehendi took over the stage and conquered everyone’s enthusiasm. At 12:57 the wedding rituals began, and Pratish and Dhvani went on to become husband and wife as Swapnil Mistry and band serenaded the crowd. The reception was held on the same evening at the poolside which transformed into an Italian Riviera with blue floral archways and chandeliers. Overwhelmed with joy, the mothers of the bride and groom delivered heart-melting toasts for their newly wedded children.
The eventful day ended with a spectacular athleisure after-party at Electrique Mist Lounge, where all-star DJ AJ played a set that was designed to stay etched in everyone’s memory.
Monisha and her team from The Photo Diary were hired to spin their photography and videography magic. Online streaming of every function was organized for those who could not make it due to the ongoing pandemic. Groom’s family friend, Bhumika Sheth with her vast experience in hospitality brought together an incredible crew of experts who rose to the challenge of making this wedding Avant-Garde and surreal. All this and more encapsulated the much-talked-about wedding. From the events to the venues, the decor to the food, the entertainment to the ensembles — this #RandomButBeautiful wedding had all the trimmings to create memories that will last forever
